Hi. I'm Jesse.
As I grew up hearing stories of family friend, Jim King, three time Western States Winner, I was inspired to run. As an adult, I ran my first marathon in Big Sur. During the race, when I was 4 miles from the finish line, a runner ran by in the direction of the starting line. He told me he was only using the marathon as a training run. That experience stuck with me over the next couple of years and after completing my first marathon, I wondered if I could run an ultra-marathon.
In 2013, I decided to pace a runner at Western States 100 Miler and we ran to the finish. This event sparked my interest at attempting to qualify for Western States myself, so two days later, I signed up for my first 50 mile ultra. Although I finished successfully, I was nowhere near to qualifying for Western States.
I didn’t feel defeated, but encouraged to figure out how to overcome the challenges I had faced, while running longer distances so I could continue to improve.
This began my 2014 year, where I ran 1,500 miles, including 7 ultra marathons in 7 months. I think it’s safe to say, I have a passion for running.
My next inspiration and passion in life came from my beautiful wife Katie. Early in our marriage, she was working on a degree in photography, and as she learned and practiced her craft, I paid attention when she would comment on the things she was doing.
I learned a lot of great information and I began playing around with my iphone, learning composition, lighting, and a multitude of other essentials for great pictures. I loved it so much, I decided to take some classes at the local college and at that point, I knew I was hooked.
In 2015, I started my own photography business and named it, “Let’s Wander Photography”. Since then, I have been combining two of my loves - running and photography. It’s a combination for me, where I can capture active photos of people who are doing something that I love, and tell their stories at the same time.
In 2015, I started my own photography business, “Let’s Wander Photography.” I started with photographing Sports Events (mostly running) and now have transitioned into also shooting Weddings/Engagements & Lifestyle Portraits. I couldn't ask for anything better! I get to meet some amazing people, tell their stories through my photography, and most incredibly witness the power of love that comes with living this life. We all have stories that are worth telling... so if you'd like to work together please send me a message! I'd love to chat with you!
